Urgent Beagle J Alert!URGENT VIRUS ALERT!This alert is being provided to customers of Mainstream Security Services - www.mainstream.net and www.esecurityguy.com There is a new variant of the W32.Beagle e-mail virus (variant J) being circulated which are convincingly designed to entice users into opening their infected attachments. We have been seeing a high number of attacks since last evening, March 2nd, 2004. Customers using Mainstream's MailStream should be unaffected. Any e-mail being processed by Mainstream's systems will automatically remove any infection. All users should be various cautious when connecting to outside e-mail services, such as hotmail, netscape, yahoo, AOL, etc. E-mail retrieved directly from these sites is not cleaned by the base Mainstream.net software. The e-mail is addressed directly to a specific user, and appears to come from support@ (your domain), management@ (your domain), administration@ (your domain) or another administrative account and contains the following text [sic]: Dear user, the management of (YourDomain) mailing system wants to let you know that, Our antivirus software has detected a large ammount of viruses outgoing from your email account, you may use our free anti-virus tool to clean up your computer software. Please, read the attach for further details. Attached file protected with the password for security reasons. Password is xxxxx.
